Markos’ Home in Berkeley

Markos’ home was a down-to-the-studs remodel, designed by architect Sarah Van Laanen and built by contractor Carlos Castellanos. Walls were thickened for increased insulation, inspired by passive house strategies to shrink the energy footprint.

  • Heat Pump HVAC: Mitsubishi, installed by Atlas Heating and Air Conditioning. One ductless ceiling cassette serves whole upstairs living space. One ductless wall unit serves downstairs studio.
